There are so many people visiting that getting tickets in advance is a must. The audio guide is very good, I found the map very confusing, maybe beacuse the building is huge. I was suprised thst there are also palace chambers to see.

As with most sites in France, get there early! This will pay off more than you can ever know. There are maps available on the ground floor in just about every language. There are also apps available, though the WiFi in the Louvre wasn't the greatest. There are little pictures of the more popular pieces on the walls which guide you. Plus, there are helpful Louvre employees in each room, pretty much. Learning a bit of French will also pay off for you almost everywhere in France.
