Since I first listened about the Louvre, I decided to visit it, knowing that many of the most famous art works (Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo among others) are in this Museum, and yes, they are all worth to visit, but if you have once the posibility of visiting the Louvre, don't just go the the great ones, take a look to many other master pieces that this museum have to offer to its visitors, specially for those who are seeking some knownledge from art. Just realise, that there is a lot to see inside and with only one visit you might not have covered even the half of the museum (in the same room where you can find the monalisa there are actually many other pics from italian renaissance to check out).

You will need to allocate a whole day for this and even then you will be unlikely to see everything, so you will need to be selective. It can be a bit of a challenge to navigate your way round if you are looking for something in particular, but there are lots of staff on hand who are willing to assist.
The audio guides although good do not last the whole time as the battery runs out (even if you do close it after each time as instructed), so that is a bit of a nuisance.
If you can, book online - it should save you time queuing.
Well worth it.
